He was a decisive, enterprising man. Again and again he had concessionsmade
to Three Rivers at Sillery, then within the region of Quebec. It is ofthat
last grant that he drew his surname (Villeneuve) Newville, for that landwas
situated above the point commonly called Newville. Came to New France inthe
summer of 1635. He had the letters of nobility accorded him in 1668. Hewas in
Quebec at the 1666 recording, Sillery in 1667 and St-Augustin in 1681.
Where he was born is now part of (Aisne) district.
