He was said to be 60 years at his death. He contacted frostbite on LakeSt-
Pierre and died on route to Quebec where he was going for treatment. Hesaid
he was 24 in 1666 and in Quebec, Said he was 25 in 1667, at Charlesbourg,Said
he was 43 in 1681 at the villiange of St-Bernard in Charlesbourg. Cited as
being in Fillion 25 AUG 1664, and Quebec 1 MAY 1666.

According to this source, he originated from Toinville, Germany, and cameto
Canada around 1663 and settled a year later on a farm on the south sideof the
Isle of Orleans. He was a farmer, but also a wagon maker. He was foundfrozen
to death on Lake Saint-Pierre in February 1698.
