COMMENT: Rene Jette, "Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles du Quebec"
1983, University of Montreal.
Nicolas Juchereau, sieur de Saint-Denis. arrived in Quebec on 9/28/1641.
During the recordings of 66, 67, and 81, was living in Beauport. The King
of France granted the letters patent of Nobility to this family. Nicolas,a
proven soldier, spent himself without consideration for the good of the
colony, and his greatest exploit was, without doubt, his heroic
resistance to the English at Quebec in 1690. It is precisely in
recompense for these many services that King Louis XIV accorded the
"Lettres de Noblesse" (dignity of Nobility) to Nicolas Juchereau. Coat of
arms is as follows; The Mitred head of St. Denis in Silver centered on a
striped shield.
